The Legal Ombudsman services are available to service is open to all members of the public, very small businesses, charities, clubs and trusts. For these customers the service is free of charge.
You must refer your complaint first to your service provider to give them an opportunity to resolve it.
The Legal Ombudsman oversees the handling of complaints against solicitors, barristers, licensed conveyancers, cost lawyers, legal executives, notaries, patent attorneys, trade mark attorneys, law firms and companies providing legal services such as claims management companies.
The Legal Ombudsman can look into complaints including buying and selling a house or property, family law such as divorce, wills, personal injury, intellectual property, criminal law, civil litigation, immigration, employment issues.
