HM Revenue & Customs – Tax Enquiry Centres | Westminster Community Information
HM Revenue & Customs collects and administers direct and indirect taxes and student loans. They pay and administer: child benefit, child trust fund and tax credits.
Please note the following before visiting the above office: most PAYE (Pay As You Earn – employees income tax) for London is dealt with in Tax Offices in other locations. If you are an employee, your Tax Office is the one which looks after your employer’s PAYE, and it is likely to be in another part of the country, particularly if you work for a large organisation. This means that if you change your job, your Tax Office may change and your tax records would be transferred to the new office.
If you have an enquiry about a particular tax bill, it is best to write to your Tax Office. However, general enquiries can often be answered by phoning or calling at any Tax Office or Tax Enquiry Centre, or phoning the helplines, without their needing to see the records held at your own Tax Office.
Information and advice available includes: completing your tax return online, qualification for tax credits, claiming child benefit, claiming a tax or National Insurance refund, check if paying the right tax, understanding a PAYE Coding Notice, Junior ISAs, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, customs allowances.
